Positive Changes We Can Make & We Want to See
– Post-Coronavirus (Summer 2020)
Make an inspirational statement for hope
We have to recognise that, for many people, the pandemic is devastating however, we should also recognise that, within each of us there lies hope and the attributes needed to…
...make positive changes and inspire each other.
Right now, people are questioning their lives, how we treat others, how we can strengthen our families, relationships, school and education systems, our communities, our nations and our global civilisation. Through questioning, we identify opportunity for improvement towards a better life for all.
What changes can you make? |
What changes do you want to see? |
Are there better ways you can approach your life? Are there better ways for schools to work? Are there better approaches to education we can take? Are there better ways we can live together? Are there better ways for our communities to operate? Are there better ways we can live in our shared planet?
The Challenge
The video should be between 2 to 4 minutes long, shot in landscape and outline the positive changes you can make and that you want to see in the following areas:

FAQ and Resources
1. How long should the video be?
ANS: Once you have written a draft script, time how long it takes you to read it at a normal reading pace. If it is longer than 3 minutes 50 seconds, consider editing your script to make it more concise. All videos must be between 2 - 4 minutes.
2. What if I don't want to appear in the video?
ANS: This is understandable and so you don't have to show your face. You want people to be listening to your message so while you talk off-camera, try not to video-record something that is distracting or moving around too much. A teddy bear or doll is fine as is a plant or a view out of a window. Wearing a scarf or cover around your face is fine as long as we can hear you clearly. You can also point the camera at your script - if it fits in one frame. Another suggestion is to stay in semidarkness – so we can see your outline but not your features
3. How much does it cost? What are the prizes?
We did consider having an entrance fee to generate funds for prizes but decided to keep the competition free. We are looking for sponsors to donate prizes but the best prize will be to help cheer up and inspire others through your video.
4. Is there anywhere I can find more information about the possible changes after COVID-19?
ANS: Yes! there are lots. Just do an internet search for, ' ‘there’s no way we can go back to how things used to be before the virus’ for example.

- Practice your final script and, when you are ready, make a final recording.
- Share or send your recording and script to robert.thorn@developingreallearners.org
